Cyprus has earned a reputation for hosting some of the world’s most challenging and most exciting
rallies. A reputation that is being kept well and truly alive in 2008.
Cyprus is hosting 2 rounds of this year’s FIA Middle East Rally Championship (MERC) – the 2008
Cyprus Rally, which was held back in May, and the upcoming 2008 Troodos Rally. May’s Cyprus Rally
was as exciting as ever with Cypriot Nicos Thomas securing victory and writing himself into the history
books as the youngest ever winner of a MERC event at just 20-years-old.
The 2008 Troodos Rally is Round 6 of this year’s MERC calendar and the penultimate round of the
Championship. Qatar’s Nasser Al-Attiyah has dominated the event in recent years, winning the last 5
consecutive events, but there are plenty of drivers from across the region looking to break his winning
streak.
There will be a change of venue for this year’s Troodos Rally with the event set to be based around
the town of Geroskipou, near to the w
During the whole duration of the rally there will be one service park. This will be located at Aliathon
Hotel, Geroskipou. The G.P.S.reference for the Service Park is: N 34 44.560 and E 032 25.929.
